Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

We have a brand new treatment that has arrived at Beauty by Eme for all you expectant mums out there. Allow us to massage and soothe any aches and pains in the comfort of your own home.

What is pregnancy massage?

Pregnancy massage - also known as pre-natal massage - promotes relaxation and bonding with you and your baby, soothes nerves, and relieves a strained back and tired muscles in expectant mothers.

Massage has been shown to ease pain and reduce anxiety in the first stage of labour. It can help you to cope with contractions by making them feel less intense and more manageable which, in turn, can reduce labour time and pain relief required.

The benefits of pregnancy massage are as follows:

  • Helps with any muscular aches and pains as it helps improve circulation which in turn helps stimulation of the flow of blood to these painful areas, easing discomfort.

  • It will help with the lumbar region (lower back area) and help with balance and relieve discomfort.

  • Sciatic pain - this can be caused by a tight buttock muscle - massage can help with this.

  • Helps with constipation as abdominal massage will encourage your bowels to move.

  • Headaches and sinus pain - having a face, neck and shoulder massage can help with sinus pressure and headaches caused by tension.

  • Swelling - extra pressure on your uterus can lead to swelling in your feet and ankles. Massage can improve circulation and lymph flow to these areas, helping to reduce swelling.

In terms of having the massage, we recommend that you start to have them after 12 weeks and/or your healthcare practitioner agrees that they can go ahead.

We always ensure that we do a consultation prior so we can understand what your needs are and ensure that they are met.
